Dear Friends and Family,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “ (Jeremiah 29:11). We all have plans for our life, but as the verse above says, God also has plans. Sometimes those plans can be very different, but God’s plan always prevails and makes our lives better in the process.
When I embarked on this mission I had a plan. It was to stay here in Kenya at Mahali pa Maisha for 3 months. The plan was to get a feel of what it would be like to be here permanently and then return home. God had already placed it on my heart that I would want to make this a full time commitment. Little did I know when I started this journey that God’s plan included extending my 3 month trip to 4 months (and counting). Given the situation of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, my flight was cancelled, and I am here indefinitely until another flight is available.

That being said, I’d like to share with you about a great opportunity that God has opened up for me – an opportunity to serve the babies at MPM as a full time missionary for a minimum of 2 years. For a while now, I have been thinking and praying about joining MPM on a permanent basis. I genuinely believe this is a new step that God is asking me to make. I believe God is going to do a good work in me as a result of this incredible opportunity, and I am excited for all that I will learn while I am here. That’s why I’m writing…I’d love for you to be a prayer partner in this mission with me. Some of things I would love for you to keep in your prayers are:
- For adoptions to move forward in Kenya so that the little ones here can get their Forever family.
- Pray for the ministry in general, for the staff, the Bell Family, and the babies that all are kept safe and healthy.
- For my focus to continue to be on
- God’s purpose. For my health and mental, spiritual and physical endurance.
- For my family back in the States.
- For guidance on the right time to return to the states and over the challenges and hurdles that I will face as I enter the mission field full-time.
My primary role at MPM will be the International Communications Director. I will spend time focused on caring for the little ones here, updating the website, taking photos, and much more. I am very excited to be joining MPM! As I continue this mission, I need your prayers for safety and God to work in and through me. I want to humbly ask you, if you feel led, to consider also supporting me financially. My monthly budget is $3,300. This includes things like monthly expenses such as food, toiletries and utilities as well as money for furlough in the US and retirement funds. Any amount would be a great help, but if you would be willing to contribute monthly, it would really help me to reach my goal! As you know, there are always administrative expenses. With MPM it is under 2%! Grateful that over 98% goes directly towards my needs!
Please prayerfully consider how you would be willing to support me throughout this journey—either through prayer, financial support or both. Monthly or one time donations are tax-deductible and can be sent to Mahali pa Maisha, PO Box 262, Sulphur Springs, IN 47388. Donations can be also made on our website at mpmkenya.org/donate. While the website is convenient, Paypal does charge a fee of 3.5%. Either way, please just include a note indicating that the donations are for Brea Oravec. Thank you for partnering with me and supporting me as I continue this adventure. I look forward keeping you updated!
Blessings,
