Infant Rescue Center

The centerpiece of MpM is the Infant Rescue Center (IRC) which is currently located in Kitengela. We are registered as a CCI (Charitable Children’s Institution) with the Kajiado North District Children’s Officer and work closely with her on a regular basis.
Infants come to us from a variety of situations, and all are placed with us by the District Children’s Officer in accordance with Kenyan law. They may be failing to thrive in an existing children’s home, or in most cases they are placed with us directly when found abandoned or orphaned. We work closely with government officials to ensure all legal avenues are followed correctly. Their time with us depends upon the physical needs they have and other issues, such as legal paperwork.

Typically an average stay at MpM for an infant is six months to one year until everything is in order for them to be adopted legally into their own Forever Family. In some cases the infants will be returned to their family if they are known and the children’s officer sees this as the child’s best interest. The IRC is set up as a multifaceted project due to the need for proper nutrition, physical therapy, monitoring and medical assistance, stimulation and loving one-on-one care. Incorporated into the Infant Rescue Center is therapy aimed at helping them to develop both mentally and physically.

The ultimate goal of MpM is to nurse infants to good health and have them placed into a loving family of their own, as opposed to sending them to an institutional setting. We work closely with several adoption agencies in Kenya and since we started we have placed over 30 infants with adoptive families.
Our staff is well trained to provide the best possible care for the babies in our care, and we have a Pediatrician Nurse Practitioner who checks babies our on a regular schedule to ensure they are healthy and developing on schedule.

A few of the things that set MpM apart from many Kenyan children’s home are:
- Nutrition and focus on baby care and therapy and stimulation – Only quality food and care (Tested and proven formula, Pampers diapers, etc) Brain development is critical first two years and is hampered when there is poor diet and care.
- Strong emphasis on obtaining all legal paperwork to complete ability for adoption
- Main focus is to get them strong and healthy and into a Forever Family
- Specialize in newborns at risk and critical care, malnourished
- Provide a Christ centered environment for the infants to thrive in. Holistic care.
- Advocate for baby’s rights in a culture that often does not consider them “people”.
- Age appropriate toys and activities. Sign language taught starting at 4 – 6 months
