Volunteer in Kenya
Volunteer Mission Teams – We welcome teams and individuals to come and partner with us for one to two weeks. You can experience the ministry up close and personal! During your time here we will do our best to make sure you experience all aspects of the ministry, from the babies to the farming. And no trip to Kenya is complete without a trip to one of our National Parks to experience the African wildlife in person.
Short / Long Term Volunteers – We also welcome those who are interested in spending a longer time serving as volunteer staff. Perhaps as a Gap year? We do require that before coming for an extended stay that you come for a short term experience to make sure you are fully equipped and ready for the long haul.
Missionary Staff – Currently we have the need for staff who are ready to bring their Servants Heart and join us. We welcome couples, families, and singles who believe God is calling them to serve with Mahali pa Maisha in Kenya. In particular we have need for individuals who have skills in the following: accounting, nursing, farming, discipleship, and general interest in caring for abandoned infants.

Get your Bible Study, Small Group or Family involved
Get involved in one or more of these opportunities to care for the infants!
Baby Booster:
We are looking for groups or individuals who are willing to help support the ongoing expenses of caring for the infants at our center. A gift of $50 per month will help provide the basic needs such as diapers, formula, medical, and more. Each quarter you will receive an update on the infant(s) you help “boost”. You will be among the first to celebrate with us when a baby is adopted by their Forever Family, and when that happens, you get a new infant for you to pray over. This program allows you to get a more intimate connection with three very precious lives while they are under our care.
Milk Challenge:
Nearly 80% of a human’s brain develops in the first two years of life. Having proper nutrition is critical for this development to take place. Consider setting milk jugs out at church, school, or work to collect spare change to help make the needed nutrition for our infants a reality. Challenge your entire family to get involved!
Soda Pop Sunday:
This simple program encourages your church family to leave, at the minimum the cost of a soda on the pew after church. The change is then collected and sent to help cover the cost of the day to day costs for caring for the infants, such as formula, diapers, and medical needs. We ask churches to consider doing this once a quarter. We will provide you with quarterly updates (Bulletin Inserts) on the infants and ministry.

Opportunities for service while in kenya
Regardless of how long you come to serve with MpM, for two weeks or two years, you will have a wide variety of experiences as you come alongside the Kenyan staff and partners serving the people, babies and children of Kenya. While the experience will vary depending upon the gifts and passions of each individual, and the options available during your stay, your time serving in Kenya may include the following areas:
Biblical Teaching – Biblical resources and discipleship are essential to our faith journey. Solid Biblical teaching in Kenya has been very limited and the need is great for purposeful and consistent Biblical teaching. Culture and tradition is a very strong influence in Africa and at times overrides the Truth and keeps one in bondage. Learning and living in the African culture is a key factor in being able to teach scripture. There are many opportunities to learn and to serve along side of Kenyan teachers and staff as we point all ages to learn, know, and apply God’s Word to their lives, family and village.
Village Outreach Events – Knowledge is power and one cannot even know how to prevent disease or possess the skills needed for a trade without first being taught. Depending on your skills and interests you can share, encourage and teach others. Building relationships and empowering others is a way to multiply oneself. Village and group outreach events are an opportunity to help and assist others in knowledge. We often do training and teaching on things like basic health and hygiene, the importance of clean safe water, nutrition, agriculture, medical assistance and biblical teaching, etc.
Babies, Children and Teens – The reality of the youngest generations in Africa is daunting. They have been left to fend for themselves after being abandoned, abused, neglected or orphaned due to the AIDs pandemic, poverty, cultural issues, or other reason. A major part of our ministry here in Kenya is working directly with orphans and vulnerable children. There are many opportunities available to encourage, teach, love, mentor, clothe, feed, medical clinics and tutor, as well as the everyday task of caring for a child. They need “Uncles and Aunties” to be Godly advocates to see them into mature Godly leaders of Africa.
At the Infant Rescue Center (IRC) you will be serving the infants and assisting the staff in providing day to day care. There are limitations on intimate care which can be given by short-term volunteers, but there are always opportunities to shower love on these precious little ones.
Getting Our Hands Dirty– In villages, children’s homes and remote areas, the need for repairing hand pumps, drilling wells, water harvesting, planting seeds and trees, drip irrigation, greenhouses, small construction and painting are just a few of the ways that our investment of labor, time and resources can bring long term impact.
